Carol Horrocks AAHCC, CD(DONA)

I have been happily married to my husband, Frank, for thirty years and have three children. The birth of each of my children was very different and unique but, most importantly, very special. Meeting my children for the first time are treasured memories, though the home birth of our third child during Hurricane Andrew in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, was certainly the most turbulent! In 1989, I became interested in teaching Bradley Classes after the method worked so well for the birth of our second child. By 1990, I was certified. During those first few years of teaching, I was invited to a few births (this was before the term Doula was established), and I fell in love with the idea of providing continuous support to families during childbirth. In 1996, a year after moving to Raleigh, I began to hear the term Doula describe my interests. I signed up for DONA training and began to expand my services. Since starting my Doula practice nineteen years ago, I have helped over 600 couples. My professional and personal experiences include water, hospital, and home births; I have worked with women handling prematurity, C-Sections, VBACs (Vaginal Birth after Cesarean), twins, and natural-childbirths. As a birth Doula, childbirth educator, and mother of three, my passion is to help women have the most fulfilling birth experiences possible. I find it an honor to support families at this time in their life as they begin their journey into parenthood -- knowing these moments will stay with them forever.

Mary Bozza, CD(DONA)

I live in Cary with my husband of thirty years, Doug, and we have two beautiful children. I have been a certified Doula through DONA International for a few years, but the majority of my birth career was spent as an advocate for single moms in crisis pregnancies with no support. For twenty years, I volunteered through my church on the Gabriel Project to help and support these women through their births. I was unaware that I had essentially been an unofficial Doula all that time, but Carol introduced me to the DONA world! I decided to get certified, and I am very happy to be partnered with Carol in helping assist new moms to bring their babies into the world.
